New License Procedures
Do you need a 3 Day Key right now?
Steps for a 30 day or permanent key
To generate your keys, we need some information from the
machine(s) on which you will be running our products.
1. Select the appropriate keyhelper program from:
keyhelper.highwinds-software.com/
2. Run the program:
tar xvf <OS>.tar
chmod u+x <OS>/keyhelper-*
./<OS>/keyhelper-*
3. Copy the output and paste it in the Sales Contact Form.
New Key Procedures
The changes that were made in January 2003 to the Highwinds
keyserver require our customers who are running builds released
between June 2001 and January 2003 to make certain modifications
to their configuration.
The following two sets of procedures explain the configuration
changes. If you are running a build released between the
aforementioned dates and are unsure which procedure to follow,
complete the form on the "CONTACT" link at the bottom of this
page and include the contents of your current key followed by
"Key Info Request" in the description field.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you server failed due to a key or licensing
issue, complete the form located at
http://3daykey.highwinds-software.com
and follow the "USER INSTALLED KEY PROCEDURES" below to restore service
immediately. Support personel will follow up with you to determine the
exact nature of the failure and provide a permenent resolution.
USER INSTALLED KEY PROCEDURES:
If you are a user one of the following versions:
Twister v2.0 through Twister v2.0.5.234
Typhoon v2.0 through Typhoon v2.0.4.234
Cyclone v2.0 through Cyclone v2.1.0.234
-AND-
You have installed a key yourself that was sent via email
from either the 3 day key generator (http://3daykey.highwinds-software.com)
or from our sales or support people
You will need to perform the following tasks:
1) Add the line:
LICHOST="-lichost invalid";export LICHOST;
to the bin/start.conf file.
2) Add ' $LICHOST ' to the last line of the bin/start
file right before the ampersand ('&').
3) Verify that the contents of the key file (cyclone.key,
twister.key, typhoon.key...) are the same as they were
when you installed the key.
KEYSERVER INSTALLED KEY PROCEDURES:
If you are a user one of the following versions:
Twister v2.0 through Twister v2.0.5.234
Typhoon v2.0 through Typhoon v2.0.4.234
Cyclone v2.0 through Cyclone v2.1.0.234
-AND-
The keyserver automatically generated and installed
the keyfile (twister.key, typhoon.key, cyclone.key)
You will need to do the following:
1) Make a backup copy of your key file
stored in the bin directory (cyclone.key,
typhoon.key, twister.key)
2) If your server properly configured DNS,
add this line to your bin/start.conf:
LICHOST="-lichost keyhost.highwinds-software.com"; export LICHOST;
If DNS is not configured on your server
add the following line to your bin/start.conf:
LICHOST="-lichost 139.81.131.75"; export LICHOST;
3) Add ' $LICHOST ' to the last line of the bin/start
file right before the ampersand ('&').
4) If a firewall is protecting your server, make sure
your server has the ability to connect to the remote
IP address 139.81.131.75 using the remote port 119.
